Vidya Jayaraman is a Samskrtam teacher and researcher specializing in Darshana Shastra. She began her Samskrtam studies under Shri. C. Raghuthamachar in Coimbatore before relocating to the United States.
Inspired by the profound compositions of Muttuswami Dikshitar and their philosophical significance, she founded Guruguha.org in 2000. In 2004, she launched the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarshini Translation Project with Dr. P.P. Narayanaswami, coordinating volunteers worldwide to translate and typeset this important text into English. She collaborated with her father-in-law, Prof. S.R. Janakiraman, on translating the Sangita Lakshana Sangraha and Sangita Lakshana Prachina Paddhati with critical commentary and published in 2010
Her academic background includes participation in shastra seminars with Professors George Cardona and Ram Karan Sharma conducted at the University of Pennsylvania. Inspired by Professor Cardona, she completed her Acharya Degree in Vyakarana through Rashtriya Samskrta Sansthan. She has also completed certificate programs in Sankhya, Advaita Vedanta, and Shabdabodha at the National Sanskrit University in Tirupati. She also studied Shastra under Vidvan Brahmashri Nerur Shriramana Sharma. With his guidance, she works on projects for the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.
Drawing from her experience in homeschooling and educational technology, she established Dharmaadhaaraa Paatashaalaa in 2017 to teach traditional texts to women and introduce Samskrtam and Indian Knowledge Systems to children. After a decade in IT consulting, she now focuses on cultural and language education, shastra studies, and academic publications. education, Shastra studies, and academic republications. Currently, she works on the “Kamakoti Jnana Parampara” Series under the guidance of Jagadguru Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamigal of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Moolamnaya Sarvajna Peetam, assisting in the preparation of critical editions of Vedanta texts with senior vidvans.
